THE SX6 STRAT -
GUITAR & TUNING
Patrick Vega's trademark is the so called "SX6 Tuning" of his favorite Fender Stratocaster- the SX6. This special tuning is a mix between Open G and Drop C Tunings ("Vintage Grace with a Heavy Metal bottom", the low .56 gauge (C) string almost making the Stratocaster sound like a 7-string guitar) and Patrick is one of the very few that does not shy away from playing leads on it. The name "Sx6" stems from the guitar's serial number which is repeatedly featured in Vega's artwork and websites. Other Strats mostly sport maple necks and Fender Custom Shop Pick Ups.The SX6 is featured on most songs on "8 Bullets" and some on "FFF".

Sx6 strat, various other Strats, the Les Paul and a Dean EVO. Most songs on the studio albums are written in the Sx6 Tuning and Drop-C Tuning. Some songs use standard tuning.

EFFECTS

FX: (Vintage) stomp boxes housed in a pedal board and a for LIVE and STUDIO use programmed X3 Live pedalboard. Favorite pedals include: "Cry Baby" and "Cry Baby from Hell" wah pedals, CE-2 Chorus, BF-2 Flanger, Phase 90 Phaser, Danecho Delay, Analog Delay, a Whammy4 and a YJM 308 overdrive.

STUDIO/LIVE SETUPS

The "studio", which really is a mobile recording set up (aka My Penthouse Bedroom Recording Studios") is located wherever Vega decides to record some music (Mostly Southern California and Austria).

Vega successfully used Guitar Amp Simulation products and midi drum programming software to write, demo and record most of the music on Freefall Faith Firestorm and some of 8 Bullets.
