I was thinking of donating some of my CD's to armed forces personnel stationed overseas. Then I got discouraged by comments like:

You know all the guys there just share music off their laptops with each other using thumb drives. It's not that hard to get music in Iraq.

But after contacting the President of Operation Gratitude I learned that in fact many of the armed forces personnel members overseas have NO internet access and NO access to a laptop. Wow. So I gave 300 of my CD's to Operation Gratitude ( @OpGratitud on Twitter) today. I hope that my music makes a difference in someone's life and maybe lifts their spirit.

I would like to welcome my (new) Fender Stratocaster American Standard, Torino Red, MN (1987) into the Vega family. Also in other gear news, a clone of the FFF Strat (aka F6) is being put together right now by some great folks here in Socal. It is a 50th Anniversary American Standard Stratocaster, Black, MN. This guitar is set up and equipped almost exactly like the F6 (Sunburst) and will be called F7. Pictures coming soon in the Gear section.

05.24.11 : : The 2nd new single: UPDATE and "ANIMA Stripped"

Live drums have been recorded at the state of the art studio "Audacia Studios" in Avezzano, Italy. Thank you Aldo & Giuseppe of Audacia and thanks to my good friend and great drummer, Enrico, who did an outstanding job drumming; it sounds amazing. I am currently re-recording a few things here and there and am making a few changes and updates to the song, then it's basic editing time and then I'll already send it off to my egineer for mix&master. Looking at an early June release date. Like 06.06.11:) Oh and the track sounds KILLER.

ANIMA Stripped is still on my "to release" list. It's done and waiting to be put out. We'll see:)

Hi all!

Do you know why all this social media stuff ain't really working for up and coming artists?

Cause it's based on either delusional FANTASY (A company you -as the artist- pay generates fake fans and wham! there you have: many many fantasy views and likes- anybody can get that done for them by a company...a dentist, an artist.....but what for? Exactly) or by PERSUASION (add me, like me).

But eitherway there's no real fans!

Few people really care beyond a "likes this" or an "add" BUT the artist spends hours in front of the computer begging for your attention- rather than making records which the artist has to pay for somehow!

THINK ABOUT THIS:

1. Excessive Quantity of music (it's too much), no one can digest as much stuff as there is now. All the: "Check me out, Listen to my new single....Free music! Free downloads, Free free free!"
Do you care?

2. No because the Internet is mostly (and naturally) "ME-nternet". Unless it's about yourself OR someone already famous, it's really not that important AND YOU KNOW IT (not even girl/boyfriends read your tweets people and even if they do, how are you paying for your next record?)

3. An "add" or "like" and especially a "comment" is very nice but it doesn't enable the artist to pay for the next recording. BUT buying their music is AND by buying the artists music, the artist will eventually be taken seriously! -> Then this internet and all that stuff is great, then- it works for everyone involved; but you really have to spend a little money on the people's art you like.

SO: BUY your music, as that is the only way of true support and nowadays you can directly SUPPORT the artist, thanks to digital distribution companies such as @Tunecore!

Get an iTunes gift card, make an account or buy the song(s) at Amazon, Napster, Rhapsody.....directly from the artist and pay by Paypal......whatever!

Just do it, and if you already are doing it, spread the word to those who aren't!

Just submitted "No Surrender" for the 'Songs of Love for Japan' benefit album!


ABOUT SONGS OF LOVE FOR JAPAN:
Songs of Love for Japan is a relief effort in response to the 9.0 magnitude earthquake that shook the northeast coast of Japan on March 11th for a full six minutes. The devastating earthquake triggered a deadly tsunami and started a chain of reactions leading to partial meltdowns inside the Fukushima nuclear power plant. Japan's casualties of both the earthquake and tsunami have exceeded 28,000 and the totality of the damage is estimated at a cost of $300 billion. The effects of this triple disaster have left many families homeless and without food, clean water or shelter.

SOLFJ is a three-day, 72-hour sale aimed at creating a groundswell of support for Japan. The cornerstone of the sale is a 100-song compilation. This compilation will be comprised of 100 rare + unique songs from 100 artists, and will sell for $100. In addition, we will offer a sampling of 20 songs for $20. To sweeten the deal, throughout the 72 hours of the sale, concert tickets, signed CD's and other one-of-a-kind items will be randomly gifted to people who purchase the 100-song compilation.

100% of the net proceeds raised by SOLFJ will support the Shelter Box efforts in Japan (shelterboxusa.org). Every $1,000 raised will allow Shelter Box to deliver emergency shelter and other life-saving equipment to a family who has lost everything in the recent disaster. A "Shelter Box" typically includes a tent, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children's activity pack and other essential items.

The sale starts April 18th, 2011 at 10AM EST and ends April 21st, 2011 10AM EST.

The album will include artists like Sara Bareilles, Ani DiFranco, Charlotte Martin, Sarah Fimm, Correatown, Antigone Rising, Cheryl B. Engelhardt and others!

Fastball: The new song is written&recorded...guitars pretty much done! Added some keyboards today and just bounced a full demo. Set out to record and release (finally) 2 really pretty chord melody pieces that I wrote ages ago. Will use my Gibson Les Paul guitar & Gibson amp and ultra heavy strings AND play fingerstyle for proper tone. First I gotta practice the tunes like a mofo to pull it off though; playing level: very difficult. I'll report more soon.

Hey everyone!

"ANIMA" is the title of my new EP (being mixed right now at a studio in Pasadena, CA and scheduled for release mid August, 2010 on my label FFF Music). ANIMA will be my third solo release ("Freefall Faith Firestorm", 2007, FFF; " 8 Bullets" 2009, FFF) and consists of 5 brand new Rock Guitar Instrumental songs with a lot of electronic/industrial influences. ANIMA is the first record on which I am using keyboards, synthesizers, samples and electronic drums to enhance the music.

On ANIMA (like on my debut album Freefall Faith Firestorm, it's all me again. Full dose of Vega.. Guitars, bass ,keyboards and drum programming by yours truly,....:) This record will also feature the first song I wrote on piano ever (the title track: ANIMA)! The EP is very melodic, also got some heavy-ness to it and pretty much is like an aural power bar and full of soul:) PURE ENERGY.

Description of ANIMA

My new record, ANIMA, is my personal musical interpretation of the 5 elements in Japanese philosophy ( called the "Godai")

"Fire Walk With Me" (Ka - Fire)

"Falkor" (Fu - Wind) Named after Falkor (or "Fuchur" in German, "Falcor" in French). Yes the luck dragon in The Neverending Story :)
A special trait of luckdragons besides their luck, is the ability to FLY despite the fact that they have no wings!

"Be Like Water" (Sui - Water)

"Quake" (Chi - Earth)

"Anima" (Ku - Sky, Heaven, Void, Soul)

"Void", also meaning "Sky" or "Heaven", represents those things beyond our everyday experience, particularly those things composed of pure energy (Spirit, thought, creative energy). It's the highest of all elements. In martial arts, especially when the fighting is blended with magic or the occult, the power of the "Void" is invoked to connect to the quintessential creative energy of the world.

"Ku" as described in the 5 ELEMENT CODES in the martial arts form Ninjutsu:
The "Void" - is the code for the sub-atomic or 'creative' foundation of all that is. Actually, the term "void" is probably a bad translation when compared to the definition of what the element represents. The English language word "de-void," as in the absence of any pre-determined shape or character, is much closer to defining the nature of this element. Human beings in a higher conscious state are the representatives of this element, just as the sub-atomic material that forms the atoms that group into the molecules that form all other material things in the universe are the base example from nature.

In our bodies, the 'void' element is our ability to think and communicate with others. Mentally and emotionally it represents our creative nature, as well as our personal means of self-expression as we identify with and operate in the world around us.

This 5th - highest of all elements - I call "ANIMA" (Soul). The combination / fusion of all that is and beyond.

I am currently in the studio and am working on a new record! It's most likely gonna be an EP, like 5-6 songs. But then again who knows ;-)
I am super happy to feel very inspired right now and am hard at work, so stay tuned. A summer 2010 release is scheduled for this one, hey maybe even early summer! :) The title for the record will be kept private for now but I will share it with you sometime soon!

The drum tracking for the remix of "Camael" (Freefall Faith Firestorm, 2007) is now completed. Oren did a great job on it. Next up will be the bass by Pepe' Porrini. After that all guitars will be re-tracked. This will be a complete re-recording of Camael and will be the next single release (TBA) in a series of remixes of off the Freefall Faith Firestorm album: No Surrender, War Party, No One and now Camael. Recording locations feature the U.S., Italy and Austria!
